Marrakech Fashion Week: Three Days Immersed in Light, Color, and Moroccan Elegance



Documenting Marrakech Fashion Week felt like stepping into a world where fashion, culture, and light intertwine effortlessly. Three intense days, each set in one of the iconic venues used for the 2024 edition: Palais Bahia, the Palais des Congrès / Movenpick Marrakech, and the Medina’s historic M. Bacha riad. These locations turned my reportage into a visual journey as much as a professional assignment.


From the very opening of the event — featuring the runway show of renowned designer Artsi Ifrach, founder of Maison Artc — I realized that this wouldn’t be just a photographic experience. It would be a celebration of colors, shapes, and atmospheres that only Morocco can offer.

Day 1 — Palais Bahia: The Magic of Sunset Light


The first day took place at Palais Bahia, one of Morocco’s finest examples of traditional architecture. The warm golden light of the sunset wrapped the hidden gardens and carved rooms, creating an almost cinematic atmosphere.

On this day I witnessed the opening show by Maison Artc, led by Artsi Ifrach, who inaugurated the fashion week with elegance and a deeply artistic touch.

Capturing that moment felt like photographing a dream: models moving gracefully, fabrics reflecting the fading light, and Palais Bahia transforming into a naturally majestic stage.

Day 2 — Palais des Congrès / Movenpick Marrakech: Contemporary Energy


The second day moved us to the Palais des Congrès, integrated with the Movenpick Marrakech — a modern, spacious, and sophisticated area. The venue was perfect for more contemporary collections, presentations, and backstage storytelling.

Here, I focused not only on the runway but on everything behind it: designers, models, makeup artists, all working in perfect rhythm. The vivid colors of the garments, the reflections of artificial lights, and the creative energy formed an extraordinary contrast with the venue’s clean architectural lines.

Day 3 — Riad M. Bacha: Tradition and Haute Couture in the Medina


The final day took place in Riad M. Bacha, a historic jewel in the heart of Marrakech’s Medina. Its intimate courtyards, colorful zellige tiles, and ornamental arches provided the perfect backdrop for the haute couture show by Michele Miglionico, who presented his “Madonne Lucane” collection — an homage to the cultural and anthropological heritage of his native Basilicata (Italy).

The interplay of light and shadow, the textures of the ancient walls, and the architectural details added depth and emotional richness to my images.

Conclusion


Marrakech Fashion Week 2024 was, for me, a fully immersive visual experience: three extraordinary locations — Palais Bahia, the Palais des Congrès / Movenpick, and Riad M. Bacha — and the presence of renowned designers such as Artsi Ifrach and Michele Miglionico made each day a story of its own, shaped by light, color, and culture.

Through my lens, I sought to capture not only the fashion, but also the spirit of Marrakech — a vibrant interplay of tradition and innovation.
